The Spear of Destiny

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Background

One of the artifacts you came for in Verden, was in possession of Iorveth, the Scoia'tael commander. Unfortunately, he lost it playing dice with Skalen.

Walkthrough

This quest is received in the tunnels at #1, once you talk to Saskia and Zoltan about the spear. They'll tell you that Iorveth put it up as a bet when he went up against Skalen in dice poker. There's nothing much else to do other than winning the spear the same way.

Skalen is located by the gates of Vergen at #3. To get there, exit the tunnels at #2 and make your way towards Vergen. Orientation in tunnels can be confusing at times, but carefully follow the in-game map and you'll reach the exit.

He'll say that having the spearhead makes him a hero, but then Geralt will challenge him and he'll fall for the trick. Dice poker is all about luck, so just play Skalen until you win. Once you win, you'll receive the item and you can head back across the mist. You might also want to play Skalen some more as he claims he has some other rare items to bet on. It seems to be bugged in the current build, but you will get something on your third win (Dun Banner cloak) which helps in the quest Death Symbolized, but is not necessary at all.

Anyhow, the quest is complete and you can pursue further goals in The Blood Curse.
