After returning from the Vergen's side of the mist with all three artifacts from there, you'll meet Roche and he'll tell you about a secret Nilfgaardian shipment of a figurine.
Right outside the mist at #1
, Roche and a few others will be checking the corpses of several Nilfgaardian soldiers. When talking to him, you'll learn that a mysterious girl, barely alive, made it through the mist and delivered a jade figurine to the nilfgaardian lookout. The figurine was uncanny reminiscent of Triss as Roche says and Geralt will point out that it is Triss, under the effects of a spell known as artifact compression.
Seeing as there's nothing important on the corpses, you and Roche will move out to the Nilfgaardian outpost with a few of the boys. It is located behind the main camp at #2
. Unfortunately, as you approach their black tents, you'll notice a ship sailing away. Roche will comment that they are probably on their way to Loc Muinne.
You can find a song about the Wild Hunt and Shilard's letter to the Emperor in the only tent that can be entered nearby. This quest ends here and continues in Act III.
