Sure, that's pretty much the quote from the pencil and paper rules. GO TEST IT IN GAME. I just did last night. I watched my attack bonuses on all attacks drop 2 points. Exactly the difference between my +4 bonus; and the +2 limit for the chainmail armor.

I'll quite the NWN wiki:"The maximum dexterity bonus is a cap on the bonus to armor class (AC) from a character's dexterity modifier.This cap applies only to AC; it does not affect the attack bonus for ranged weapons, the attack bonus from weapon finesse, reflex saves, nor dexterity-based skills (most of which are subject to the armor check penalty instead).It is, however, reflected on the character sheet,which will show the capped modifier if the maximum dexterity bonus applies (and the capped modifier will be in red if it is lower than the character's base dexterity's modifier)."I have never noticed this in my DEX builds. A quick search doesn't support this at all and given how popular NWN was, I'll wager there would have been a small outcry over it, if it was this different from P&P.DEX based skills decrease because of the Armour Check Penalty.The OC companions sucked, I'll give you that.

Officially in 3.x D&D it was; but in play in NWN it affected almost everything related to Dex. Go create a character with a high dex and put on some plate and check all your dex-related stats. I just did a quick test with an L10 Ranger I had in a game-save file. The character had Dex18 and was wearing +2 leather. I put on some chainmail (max dex+2) and not only did my AC drop but so did my Finesse-based attack bonus. I appear to be wrong about the skills and the reflex save; and I can't find anything on initiative bonus on the character sheet; I'd have to find something to fight and check the initiative roll+modifier. It's been a long time since I played so I wasn't absolutely certain of everything it affected; but it crippled Tomi to the point of uselessness. He relies on his high Dex for both his AC and his attack bonus and at the very least his armor crippled him there.

I've played NWN many times since I first purchased it about 20 years ago. I had/have one major problem with this game. The first Henchman you meet is Tomi Undergallows. He wears Studded Leather armor which caps his dexterity bonus at +5. Every four levels he uses his free ability point to increase his Dexterity; and eventually he gets Gloves of Dexterity+2. At about L8 he has reached his armor limit on his dexterity bonus and all further dexterity improvements are wasted. In NWN armor limits on Dexterity affect EVERYTHING that uses dexterity. He has weapon finesse so he uses dex for his attack rolls; his initiative bonus; his AC bonus; his reflex save; and the majority of his rogue skills. They are ALL hindered by his armor cap. He would be one of the most useful henchman because of the number of traps and locked chests in the game; but his Armor Dexterity cap means he's a severe and ever-increasing hindrance in combat. At the end of Chapter 1 you face a boss fight; I could not win this boss fight because of Tomi being my Henchman; I needed a good support and he couldn't do it. The game does not give you control of Henchman equipment so you can't change his armor. Henchman Equipment control wasn't implemented until SoU. Exactly this. Their text walkthroughs are so much easier and faster. The only game video walkthroughs were useful for me was Hogwarts Legacy when I couldn't find a couple of secrets by the poorly written article on another site.
