Thanks. I now remember reading about objects blocking shots in an early review or preview. Reckon they're patching and tweaking the game still...perhaps I'll give it a shot later. Probably after my laptop finally dies and I'll have upgrade.

Seven was a pretty good game, and coincidentally very similar in gameplay to Weird West.

I think controller is OK, just takes a little getting used to. The biggest frustration for me is that objects keep blocking my shots. May be the console would have more problems as it would be more difficult to see what's going on if you're playing on TV.

Thanks very much for the review. I'm really interested in the setting and the premise of this game, but I'm really hesitant about the gameplay aspects. These sorts of things are quite important to me, and if possible I nowadays like to play games on consoles, and if the controller isn't very good for playing this game...I think I'll just have to pass.

I tend to think the perfect amount of this game to play is JUST the first story.On Gamepass, and viewed from the perspective of 'just play the first story and treat that as the whole game unless you, personally, are LOVING it', it's actually really strong. You travel around a bit, do some side quests (sure, they're procedural, but just don't do so many that it matters), upgrade your gear, and then finish a relatively ok story with identifiable characters and a plot. You even get enough exp and upgrade points to realise that 99% of the skills are utterly pointless because combat just moves too fast.Then you never bother with story 2. Because it plays almost identically to story 1, as does story 3... and I gave up in story 3 because I was very bored of the formula by that point, so I've no idea if story 4 or 5 would have been worth it. I have a strong belief the answer is "no".But 15 hours on story 1, with some sidequests? A fun little romp.

Yeah I'm not sure super realistic graphics was the best route to go with Bethesda's style, but we'll see.

Finally we see some gameplay. I don't know. I've not played Elite: Dangerous or No Man's Sky, but I still like the theme of space exploration. I'm not sure if the visual design appeals to me that much...it feels like it might be slightly drab? I liked the general atmosphere of the demo, but I don't know. Will this be exciting enough vs. No Man's Sky (the vibrant, exotic vistas), Outer Worlds (the visual design, vistas...), etc.? I guess I'll need to learn more.

Yeah I definitely don't regret all the time spent playing those three games!And yes, I agree about Skyrim, and can believe the Morrowind comparison.

Well, Skyrim plays smooth, but its mechanics are incredibly shallow and its setting very, very bland compared to Morrowind. Like all Beth games, it's only worth looking at with (tons of) mods, IMO.BTW, IWD2, NWN & KotOR are far superior to anything Beth every created. ;-)

Yeah. Morrowind felt a bit too clunky for me already when it came out. I now think I should have persisted a bit longer with it back then, but I definitely can't get into it now anymore. I went with IWD2 and NWN instead as all those games came out in 2002, then went on to KOTOR etc.I thought Oblivion was fascinating at first, but then the difficulty level scaling just ruined the game for me relatively quickly. Skyrim was the first (and thus far only) ES game I really got into, even with all its faults. But I nowadays regret not giving Morrowind a better chance a bit.
