Iron Throne Headquarters (AR0611 - AR0616)

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Overview

1 - Triadore

The first time you enter the headquarters, Triadore will rush up to you and tell you that there is "madness" inside. If you pay him 300 gp, then he'll stop for a moment and reveal that you'll encounter six of Sarevok's "acolytes" on Level 5: two priests, two mages, and two fighters (#14).

2 - Guard

This guard will only leave you alone if you bribe him 100 or 200 gp.

3 - Guard

This guard will attack you no matter what you say.

4 - Locked Chest

Inside this chest you'll find a cursed Antidote, a Potion of Genius, a Potion of Insulation, a Potion of Storm Giant Strength, and 100 gp.

5 - Locked Chest

Inside this chest you'll find a scroll of Protection from Acid, a scroll of Protection from Cold, and 255 gp.

6 - Dra'tan

When the guard Dra'tan spots you, he'll come up to you and ask you where you're going. If you tell him that you're heading up to see Sarevok, then he'll reveal some of the strange things he's seen in the headquarters lately, including evidence of shapeshifters. If you mock him, then he'll call for reinforcements, and they'll attack you -- but you'll earn 600 xp for defeating them.

7 - Guard

This guard will leave you alone unless you say you're from Cormyr.

8 - Nortuary

Nortuary will tell you that he's from the Iron Throne council in Sembia, and he'll demand to know where Rieltar is. No matter what you say to him, he'll wander off.

9 - Emissary Tar

Emissary Tar will tell you that she's in the building to negotiate a new iron treaty with the Iron Throne, and she'll ask you where the stairs are. No matter what you say to her, she'll wander off.

10 - Bartender

This bartender won't sell you drinks or anything, but he and the nearby merchants will mention that Rieltar and Brunos have gone to Candlekeep for some "important business."

11 - Destus Gurn

Gurn will mistake you for Emissary Tar (#9). If you play along, then he'll list the eight people you'll face upstairs (#14, #17).

12 - Shelves

If you search these two shelves, then you'll find scrolls of Flame Arrow, Hold Person, Know Alignment, Protection from Petrification, Shield, and Stinking Cloud.

13 - Merchants

You can trick or threaten the merchants here into giving you information, but they won't tell you anything useful.

14 - Zhalimar Cloudwulfe

When you reach Level 5, Zhalimar Cloudwulfe will stop you and demand to know your intentions, but no matter what you say to him, he and five other acolytes -- Aasim, Alai, Divab, Gardush, and Naaman -- plus a doppelganger will attack you.

This battle will probably be difficult for you, so it's a good idea to buff up with a few spells on Level 4 before you go up. Aid, Bless, Haste, and Mirror Image are all useful here. Then immediately after arriving on Level 5, pause your game and cast more spells -- like Fireball (via spell or staff) right into the middle of the enemies.

Alai and Naaman are mages, so target them first. Aasim and Divab are clerics, so target them second. Cloudwulfe and Gardush are fighters, so ignore them and the doppelganger until everybody else is dead. If you're successful in the fight, then you'll earn 12,420 xp total, and you'll find a bunch of possibly-useful equipment on the corpses: an Antidote, Bracers of Defense AC 7, a Mace +1, a Medium Shield +1, an Oil of Fiery Burning, a Potion of Perception, a Potion of Stone Giant Strength, a Ring of Free Action, Suryris's Blade +2 (aka a Halberd +2), a Wand of Lightning, a Wand of the Heavens, and a War Hammer +1. You'll also find several scrolls: Confusion, Dispel Magic, Fireball, Know Alignment, Minor Sequencer, Protection from Normal Missiles, Protection from Undead, and Vocalize.

15 - Stairs to the Roof

You won't find anything on the roof, but you might recognize the location from the opening cinematic to the game. You can also rest of the roof, which you might find useful after the tough fight on Level 5 (#14).

16 - Emissary Tar's Body

17 - Thaldorn

Despite being one of the leaders of the Iron Throne, Thaldorn will begin begging and whining when you talk to him -- and he probably won't tell you anything that you don't already know. If you kill Thaldorn, then you'll earn 975 xp, and you'll find a Potion of Agility, a Short Sword +1, Studded Leather Armor +1, and 350 gp on his corpse.

18 - Desk

Inside this desk you'll find scrolls of Hold Person and Lightning Bolt, and you'll also discover two letters. The letters will indicate that Rieltar and Brunos have left for Candlekeep, and that Sarevok has been lying to Rieltar.
