Overview: Karga Camp

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

1 - Marcas

Marcas guards the main entrance to the Karga Camp. If you don't have a positive reputation with Clan Karga, then he'll turn you away. If you have gained some reputation, then he'll allow you to pass. You can also kill Marcas if you want, and gain entrance that way. Nobody in the camp will notice.

2 - Ethan

Ethan will give you the quest "Collecting Evidence." He'll tell you that Zed Masara in Gorelin Village is feeding information about House Skelden to Clan Karga, and he'll ask you to go to Gorelin Village and to pick up his latest report.

This is an easy quest -- with one complication. If you go to the Excavations, then a man named Brokk will give you almost the identical quest, except that he'll want you to bring the report back to him instead, and so you'll have to decide which faction you want to support.

If you give the Excavations Reports to Ethan, then you'll gain 2 points of reputation with Clan Karga. If you give the reports to Brokk, then you'll gain some experience and 2 points of reputation with House Skelden.

3 - Barra

Barra (#3) is a judge of sorts for Clan Karga. When you talk to him, he'll offer you 5000 gold pieces to kill Isa, the man who informed House Skelden where to find Conn Krannach. (If you don't know who Conn Krannach is, you can learn more about him from the people here and in Covengor Village.) If you accept the bounty, then you'll trigger the quest "Isa."

You'll find Isa lying dead in a cave to the east of the camp (#3a), and standing over him will complete the quest. You'll never hear an explanation about who killed Isa (maybe it was the wolves), but when you return to Barra with the news, he'll reward you with the promised 5000 gold pieces, and you'll also receive 2 points of reputation with Clan Karga.

4 - Antrai

Antrai works as a healer for Clan Karga. When you talk to him, he'll tell you that he could use two healing potions. If you give him the potions, then you'll complete the quest "Sources Drying Up," and Antrai will reward you with the Blizzard water magic spell.

5 - Karga Treasury

This is where you can pick up The Relic. To get inside, you'll need to complete a quest for Ultar (#6) or Cahal (#7), or you'll need to side with House Skelden and eliminate Clan Karga.

6 - Ultar's House

The guard in front of the house won't let you in without Cahal's permission. You'll find Cahal just to the south (#7). Perhaps in earlier versions of the game, convincing Cahal to give you permission to see his father was a difficult thing, but as of version 1.5 you'll only need 2 points of reputation with Clan Karga, and so you should be able to meet Ultar the first time you reach his house.

When you talk to Ultar, he'll lay out a plan for bringing down House Skelden. He'll tell you that House Skelden has a secret gold mine, and that they're using a former apprentice from the royal mint to forge gold coins. If King Emrys were to learn of this, then he'd have no choice but to toss House Skelden out of Thalmont and return it to Clan Karga. The only problem is that Ultar doesn't have any proof of his accusations, although he'll speculate that you might find some in Sano Moon's house at the Excavations. If you agree to hunt for the proof, then you'll trigger the quest "A Final Strike."

Sano Moon's house is locked at night and open during the day. If you get impatient and decide to pick the lock, then it won't really matter how you deal with the guards, because after you've completed this quest, everybody will disappear from the Excavations anyway.

On the floor in the house you'll find something called a Counterfeit. When you take this item to Ultar, he'll reward you with some experience, and he'll allow you to take The Relic from the Karga Treasury (#5). The Relic is necessary for the main quest line.

Note: Completing Ultar's quest means you won't be able to complete Cahal's quest (#7), and it means that House Skelden will cease to exist in Thalmont. So if there are any House Skelden quests that you'd like to do, you should complete them first.

Another note: If you kill Ultar, you'll receive 1 skill point.

7 - Cahal Karga

After you've spoken to Ultar (#6), Cahal will present to you his own plan for defeating House Skelden. He'll ask you to simply kill Lord Ebrat Skelden, who is currently residing at the Excavations. You'll automatically accept this quest, which is called "Eye for an Eye," but you'll still have the option of completing Ultar's quest instead.

If you decide to complete Cahal's quest, there are a couple ways to go about it. The easiest thing to do is just start killing people at the Excavations until you've reached Ebrat in the headquarters, and then kill him, too. The other way is to gain some reputation with House Skelden, and then accept Ebrat's quest "The Test of Loyalty." That will give you access to the jail in the Excavations, and if you release Maxia Calvo from her cell, then Ebrat and a few guards will attack you when you try to leave.

You'll gain 1 skill point for killing Ebrat Skelden, and then when you return to the Karga Camp, Ultar will greet you at the entrance. He won't be happy about what you did, but he'll open up the treasury (#5) for you so that you can claim The Relic, which you'll need for the main quest line. If you walk all the way up to the top of the camp, Cahal will claim to give you a reward, but as of version 1.5 you won't actually receive anything.

Note: Completing Cahal's quest means you won't be able to complete Ultar's quest (#6), and it means that House Skelden will cease to exist in Thalmont. So if there are any House Skelden quests that you'd like to do, you should complete them first.

Another note: Freeing Maxia Calvo is worth 4 points of reputation with Clan Karga. You'll receive 2 points when you leave the jail, and 2 more points when you talk to Maxia's husband Eryn in Covengor Village.

8 - Karga Hidden Cave

If you don't have a positive reputation with Clan Karga, then the guard outside the cave won't allow you to enter. Otherwise, he'll allow you to pass freely. You can also kill the guard to get inside.

Inside the cave you'll find an object called The Cure. You'll need this object to complete a quest for Sano Moon at the Excavations.
