The second vid reports that fanatical biotics have kidnapped the chairman of the Parliament Subcommittee on Transhuman Studios and are now holed up in a derelict freighter in the Farinata system. This news triggers the "UNC: Hostage" assignment, which will bring you to the MSV Ontario in the Farinata system of the Hades Gamma cluster.
There are other news videos that play during your elevator downtime, but these are the only two that will actually trigger new assignments.
