Background

You'll receive this quest from Raquel at Nellis Air Force Base. You'll find Raquel either at her watch post near the entrance to the base (during the day) or in one of the women's barracks (during the night).


Walkthrough

Raquel will ask you to kill the giant ants that have burrowed their way into the generator building, which is located in the northeastern part of the base (at Nellis Array). However, she'll warn you that the ants "must be eating gunpowder from the munitions down there," because they'll explode if attacked with energy weapons. If you agree to clear out the ants, then Raquel will give you the Nellis Generator Key so you can get inside.

At the end of your conversation, Raquel will also mention that Loyal might have a weapon that you can use against the ants. You'll find Loyal either in the hangar (during the day) or in his house (during the night). With Speech 50 or Science 50, he'll give you a Sonic Emitter, which will make your battle against the ants much easier.

Inside the generator building, you'll have two ways to proceed:

• You can simply kill the ants. You'll start out facing only Giant Worker Ants, but eventually Giant Soldier Ants will show up. In all, you'll have to kill fifteen ants.
  
  
• You can place the Sonic Emitter on the ant mound (#1) and then activate it. This will kill all of the ants in one fell swoop.

After dealing with the ants, you'll need to activate two electrical switches (#2) and then the main power switch (#3) to start the generator back up. With power restored, when you return to Raquel, she'll reward you with 300 xp and some Boomer fame.
