Background

You'll receive this quest from Emily Ortal in the New Vegas Strip. She should run up to you when you exit the Lucky 38 Casino, but only after you've completed the quest Ring-a-Ding-Ding. You might need to exit the casino multiple times to get Emily to show up.


Walkthrough

Emily will tell you that the Followers of the Apocalypse are interested in learning how Mr. House has stayed alive for so long, and she'll ask you to hack into his network and plant a bug for her so she can retrieve the information she needs. If you pass a Barter 40 check, then she'll promise you some medical supplies for your help.

If you tell Mr. House about the request, then he'll just shrug it off. If you kill Mr. House, then you'll fail the quest. That means there's only way way to proceed. You'll need to do what Emily wants and activate the terminal on the western side of the casino level of the Lucky 38 Casino. No actual hacking is required for this, but you'll still get 50 xp for defeating the terminal's "hard" security.

Afterwards, when you return to Emily, you'll receive 500 xp and some fame with the Followers of the Apocalypse. If you bartered for medical supplies, then you'll also receive 5 Stimpaks, 2 Super Stimpaks, 2 Doctor's Bags, 2 doses of Med-X, and 2 copies of Today's Physician. However, Emily will then inform you that the bug only stayed active for about 30 seconds, and that she didn't learn anything useful.
