Location: Primm

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Overview

When you arrive in Primm, you'll discover that it has been taken over by escaped convicts from the NCR Correctional Facility (located to the north). However, these convicts are not affiliated with the powder gangers, and so you won't suffer any infamy for killing them.

1 - Guard Posts

At each of these guard posts, you'll find 2-4 ammunition boxes and sometimes a guard.

2 - Sergeant McGee

You'll usually find Sergeant McGee on guard duty around here. He's involved in the quest My Kind of Town.

3 - Tent

Inside this tent you'll find an armor case, an ammunition box, and three bedrolls.

4 - Lieutenant Hayes' Tent

Inside this tent you'll meet Lieutenant Hayes. He's involved in the quests I Fought the Law and My Kind of Town.

5 - Deputy Beagle's Residence

You won't find much of interest in here, other than a gun case with a "very easy" lock.

6 - Sheriff's Office

In the front part of the office, you'll find a reloading bench, an ammunition box, and 48 .308 Rounds (on the counter by the radio). In the back part of the office, you'll find the corpses of Sheriff McBain and his wife on a bed, with their gear (including a Sheriff's Hat and a Sheriff's Duster) on the floor next to them. If you're feeling a little gruesome, then you can sleep on the bed with the corpses.

7 - The Vikki and Vance Casino

When you first arrive in Primm, this is where you'll find all of the town's residents, including Johnson Nash, Ruby Nash, and Primm Slim. Then once you've completed the quest My Kind of Town, the Nashes will go to their house (#8), and the other residents will go to their homes (#11). Slim will stay in the casino.

If you talk to Slim, then he'll tell you all about Vikki and Vance and their not-so-desperado ways. If you examine the display case where Vance's gun should be but isn't, and talk to Slim again, then you'll be able to inform him that the gun is missing. However, Slim won't believe you, and you'll need a Science skill of 50 to determine that Slim's memory was tampered with by somebody named Pauline, and that Vance's gun is now in a safe somewhere near Westside (actually in Wins Hideout, located between the H&H Tools Factory and Miguel's Pawn Shop).

If you explore the casino, then you'll find lots of useful items to steal: a Combat Knife (on a blackjack table on the northern side), 50 .22LR Rounds (under a roulette table on the northern side), a Silenced .22 Pistol (under a roulette table on the northern side), a copy of Fixin' Things (on an end table on the western side), a copy of Salesman Weekly (on an end table on the western side), and an unlocked safe filled with random loot (on the western side). You'll also find a bank of safes (on the southern side), including a "hard" one. From these safes you'll be able to pick up Spiked Knuckles, a 9mm Submachine Gun, and more.

At some point after completing the quest My Kind of Town, when you enter the casino you'll get ambushed by Layla and three other NCR deserters. They'll demand caps from you, and if you refuse to pay then they'll attack you. A few days after this encounter, the casino will re-open for business, and you'll be able to gamble inside provided that you buy Vikki & Vance Chips from the cashier on the southern side of the building. As you win chips from the casino, you'll win other prizes as well, including a Stealth Boy (after 1250 chips) and Leather Armor, Reinforced (after 1875 chips). If you earn 2500 chips, then you'll get banned from gambling in the casino.

8 - Nash Residence / Mojave Express Station / General Store

In front of the building, you'll find the corpse of Daniel Wyand, a Mojave Express courier like yourself. If you loot his body then you'll find the Mojave Express Delivery Order (4 of 6). Inside the building, you'll find copies of Fixin' Things and Programmer's Digest (on a nightstand), and a damaged duraframe eyebot (on the front counter). With 65 Repair (or only 35 Repair with 55 Science), or with the right spare parts (3 Scrap Metals, 2 Sensor Modules, and 1 Scrap Electronics), you'll be able to repair the robot, which will then turn into ED-E, a potential companion. ED-E is involved in the quest ED-E My Love.

Also in the building, you'll eventually meet Johnson Nash and his wife Ruby, although they'll start out inside the Vikki and Vance Casino (#7). When you talk to Johnson (here or there), he'll tell you two interesting things: that you weren't the original courier for the Platinum Chip (the first courier saw your name next in line and backed out), and that Deputy Beagle knows something about the men who robbed you and tried to kill you. Learning about Beagle will trigger the quest My Kind of Town. Johnson will also sell you some items, and he'll play Caravan with you. Meanwhile, when you talk to Ruby Nash, she'll inform you that she's a cook, and for every five Radscorpion Poison Glands that you bring her, she'll give you five Ruby's Casseroles.

9 - Ruined Building

On the second floor of this building, you'll find two ammunition boxes and a copy of the Milsurp Review (on the bed frame).

10 - Ruined Building

On the floor of this building, you'll find an unlocked safe with a variety of meds inside.

11 - Houses

You won't find much of interest inside these houses, other than a Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Cap (in the southeastern house on a shelf next to a radio). However, be sure to check the mailboxes in front of the houses since you can sometimes find skill magazines there. You'll also find a campfire at the western end of the lane.

12 - Locked Door

To open this door, you'll either need to pick its "hard" lock or hack the "easy" terminal next to it. In the room beyond, you'll find some meds, a wall safe with an "average" lock, and the Bison Steve Maintenance Key (on the table). The key will unlock the maintenance door to the east (#15).

13 - Gift Shop

On the floor behind the counter you'll find a "hard" safe containing Lucky plus some meds. On top of the safe you'll find a copy of Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor.

14 - Star Cap

On the end table here, you'll find a Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Cap.

15 - Maintenance Door

This door has an "easy" lock, but if you don't want to pick it, then you can also use the Bison Steve Maintenance Key (#12) to get it open.

16 - Dining Hall

This is where you'll encounter most of the convicts. The convict leader will drop an Incinerator when he dies.

17 - Kitchen

This is where you'll meet Deputy Beagle. He's involved in the quests My Kind of Town and They Went That-a-Way. You can also pick up a few bottles of Purified Water here.

18 - Storage Closet

If you can pick open the "very easy" lock on the closet door, then past it you'll find some medical supplies, including a Doctor's Bag and two first aid boxes.

19 - Room (Lower Level)

To get into this room, you'll need to pick the "very easy" lock on its door. Inside, you'll find some skeletons and drugs. Possibly, this is the room where the kidnapped wife (see #20) was being held.

20 - Room (Lower Level)

In this room you'll find a Ransom Note (on the desk) plus a gun cabinet.

21 - Debris Piles

You'll be able to use the debris piles at these spots to climb between the upper two floors of the hotel.

22 - Room (Upper Level)

Inside this room you'll find a gun cabinet with an "average" lock. One of the convicts will drop the Worn Key that unlocks it.

23 - Bathroom (Upper Level)

Inside this bathroom, you'll find an armor case and a locked first aid box.

Exits:
  1. Main entrance to the Bison Steve Hotel.
  2. Side entrance to the Bison Steve Hotel.
  3. Stairwell door.
  4. Elevator. You'll need 35 Repair to get the elevator working.
