Carnival

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

This Carnival is a tradition of Nashkel, a place where once a year merchants, entertainers and commoners can get together to celebrate and have some good time. Unfortunately, due to the recent events, the attendance this year has been lower than ever, which did not prevent numerous merchants to come to the fair. As usual, some people tend to take advantage of the occasion to sell junk to the customers and make some easy money, so keep your eyes wide open.

1- THE GREAT GAZIB AND THE AMAZING OOPAH:

This performer(Gazib) summons forth an ogre named Oopah and then makes him explode for the amusement of the audience. If you talk with him three times, Oopah gets eventually angry and attacks your party so be ready to kill him for 270 Exp.

2- LORD BINKY THE BUFFOON:

A nobleman whose sole amusement is to tease the others. You can either ask him "Are you mocking me?" or tell him that you'll kill him for him to stop.

3- GAMBLING TENT:

Vitiare: A thief who steals 100 gp. from you and then leaves. If you are quick enough(attack him as soon as you enter the tent), you can kill him for 73 gp., a Potion of Healing, a Potion of Master Thievery and a Potion of Agility.

Craps Gamesman: You have a fair chance to win at the craps table(about 2/5 chances, from the test I did) so you might want to try it for fun.

Roulette Gamesman: Don't bother wasting your money on the roulette as you usually lose(I lost at each of my 10 attempts).

Big Wheel Gamesman: Same as the roulette, you usually lose at the Big Wheel.

4- GAMBLING TENT:

Gamesman: Same as location (3).

5- TENT:

Zordal: A mage who wants to kill Bentha because he claims that she is a witch. If you anger him, he will kill her on the spot, so be careful. On the other hand, choosing the right dialogue(choices: 1-1) leads to Zordal attacking you without killing Bentha, which is better. He is worth a good 900 Exp. and he has 79 gp., a Knave's Robe, a scroll of Armor and a scroll of Color Spray on him.

Bentha: If you save her, she explains that Zordal was an old enemy of her family and that he wanted to kill her because of their vendetta. Asking her information about the region leads to her telling you about Volo, who happens to be at the Belching Dragon Tavern in Nashkel. If you ask her some trinkets, she gives you an Antidote.

6- MERCHANT TENT:

Merchant: Necklace of Missiles, Amulet of Protection +1, Shield Amulet, Ring of Infravision and Protection Scrolls. He also has an Identify section.

7- MERCHANT TENT:

Merchant: Basic melee weapons. He also has an Identify and Steal section.

8- ZEKE:

A gnome(evil) who offers you a scroll of Stone to Flesh that will help you liberate a young woman from her stone form (9). He asks you 500 gp. for it. A wiser choice is to buy the same scroll from the Temple of Helm in Nashkel for about 145 gp.

9- BRANWEN:

Branwen (TN, Human Female, Cleric) is in stone form the first time you'll encounter her. You'll need a scroll of Stone to Flesh to bring her back to life. You can get such scroll from Zeke (8) or at the Temple of Helm in Nashkel. Either way, she offers to join you when she's back to life and she's very convenient as she is a cleric. She'll also warn you against Tranzing, the evil mage who turned her to stone. Finally, be careful not to turn Branwen back to flesh if you do not wish her to join your party for the moment as she will be back in stone form the next time you visit the area (this is a bug).

10- MERCHANT TENT:

Merchant: Basic missile weapons and also some Arrows of Piercing(+4 THACO). He also offers an Identify and a Steal section.

11- LESTOR AND LAHL:

Two commoners who give you some information about the carnival, the mines and the bandits in the region.

12- MERCHANT TENT:

Merchant: This tent is probably the best place of the whole carnival. First, the merchant offers you 2 potions: a Red Potion(INT 25, WIS 3, STR 3, 50% Magic Resistance) and a Violet Potion(STR 25, DEX 3, CON 3) for 50 gp. each. The good part is that you can then identify them and sell them to another merchant for 250 and 200 gp. respectively! Then, there are 2 chests in the room. The one on the right side can be opened without the guards being summoned and contains 230 gp., a Potion of Fire Giant Strength and a Potion of Heroism. The one on the left if rather hard to open, so use a Potion of Master Thievery or a Potion of Strength to open it. The guards will be summoned but you can bribe them with 200 gp. This is worth it as the chest contains 208 gp., a Potion of Fire Resistance, a Potion of Invulnerability, a Potion of Invisibility and a Potion of Healing. You can also get out of the tent before the guards arrive. Here's how: Open the chest and immediately pause the game. Grab all the loot inside. Unpause the game and immediately click on the exit.

13: MERCHANT TENT:

Merchant: Basic armors and shields. He also offers an Identify and a Steal section.

14- TENT:

This tent is used to smoke a drug called the Black Lotus. You can't try it, though.
