Baldur's Gate (Southeastern)

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

This part of town is located just east of the docks and shelters a good number of shops and houses. You can also find the Blade and Stars in this part of town, making it a nice place to visit.

1- HOUSE:

Nemphre: An evil necromancer who is the old rival of Arkion, another necromancer living in Baldur's Gate. She asks you to retrieve his Bloodstone Amulet for her for which she promises to "do a few things for you". Arkion can be found in the Eastern part of Baldur's Gate. You can either pickpocket or kill him for the amulet. Once you have it, bring it back to Nemphre for 1000 Exp. and a scroll of Vampiric Touch. You can then decide to kill her if you wish for a further 1200 Exp., Mage Robe of Electrical Resistance and Onyx Ring.

Kitchen: There is a Cloak of Protection +1 in the cupboard in the kitchen.

2- SHOP:

Shop: A very good selection of potions, some of which are cursed.
Identify: Yes.
Steal: Yes.

Note: There is a Potion of Healing and a Potion of Firebreath on one of the shelves but if you take them the guards will be summoned. Should you decide to do so, send in a thief with a good stealth, pick up the potions, hide in shadows and leave the shop unseen by the guards.

3- HOUSE:

Tavex and Michael: Two thieves from the local guild who are plundering the house of an honest citizen(well, hopefully honest). If you tell them that you are not the owner of the house but that you won't let them walk away(choice: 3) they attack you. Together, they are worth 1275 Exp. and carry some good loot: Light Crossbow +1, 40 Bolts of Lightning and 24 Arrows of Fire. You can then loot the house yourselves, although there is nothing of interest.

4- HOUSE:

There is a Potion of Insight in one of the chests on the first floor. Just send in a thief with a high stealth, pick up the potion, hide in shadows and walk out of the house unseen by the guards.

5- INN AND TAVERN:

1st Floor:

Euric: If you have talked with his mother Nadine(see Central part of BG for more details) you can bring Euric the Amulet of Protection +1 for 1100 Exp. Go back to Nadine then for a further 400 Exp., +1 Rep. and a Necklace of Missiles.

Innkeeper:
Rooms: All 4 rooms are available.
Shop: No.
Drinks: Yes.
Steal: No.

2nd Floor:

Sanadal Gwist: A woman who asks you to find her "dear" brother and cousin Carbos and Shank. If you remember well, they are the first assassins you met in Candlekeep. If you push her on her motives, she admits that in fact they owe her some money and asks you to kill them for it (which you did, heh).

6- NIKOLAI:

A local guide who offers to tell you the history of the city for 15 gp. His story is really interesting and is a MUST read for those of you who wish to know a bit more about the setting of the game. He tells you how Balduran founded the city, how the protection walls were erected and how the Grand Dukes were set in place. A good story all in all.

7- BLADE AND STARS:

1st Floor:

Shaella: A follower of the dead goddess Leira, who used to be the goddess of the mist. She tells you how Cyric murdered her and how Mask betrayed her. There is no real point to it and once she's done she leaves.

G'Axir the Seer: Asks you to bring him a Sphene Gem in order to predict the future. The gem can be found on the Basilisk at the docks(Southern part of BG). Once you return with the gem you get 1000 Exp. and he tells you a bit about yourself and Candlekeep (nothing of interest, though).

Innkeeper:
Rooms: All 4 types of rooms are available.
Shop: No.
Drinks: Yes.
Steal: No.

Elkhart: This man here has nothing to say to you, but he can be pickpocketed or killed for a Harrower +1 (Longsword +1, +3 vs. Undead).

2nd Floor:

Lothander: Once you have obtained the scroll required to remove his geas off Jalantha Mistmyr at the Water Queen's House(Southern part of BG) you can bring it to Lothander for 1500 Exp. He gives you his "half" of the antidote(barely 1 antidote) and tells you that Marek has the other half. Marek can be found at the Blushing Mermaid inn (North-Eastern part of BG).

Sorrem: A Dark Moon member who appears after encountering the Dark Moon Monk attackers in the city's south docks district. Talk to Sorrem and he'll explain that the Dark Moon are hiding out near the Seven Suns building. When the conversation is over, you will immediately travel to the southwestern district of the city.

3rd Floor:

Reginald "Longtooth" Worthington III: A nobleman who talks a lot but says very little. There is no point to the conversation so you might as well avoid it.

8- GANTOLANDAN'S HOUSE:

Gantolandan: One of the targets of Narlen Darkwalk's quests. He has recently acquired a Rogue Stone(worth 2500 gp.) and intends to sell it to a local mage before long. He keeps the stone on the second floor of his residence in a trapped chest. When you access this level, you'll find him sleeping and you can avoid waking him up by pretending that you are a cat(choice 2, "Meow-w-w") and then that you are a stray(choice 3, "I'm a stray…") once he tells you that he has no cat. During that time, remove the trap, grab the stone and get out. Alternatively, you may wish to fight him. He is worth 1200 Exp. and carries a Long Sword +1.

9- WAREHOUSE:

Nadarin: A halfling who tells you that a Basilisk has escaped from one of their crates at the docks and that he's causing trouble in a warehouse. Asks you to go and kill it for him. Once it's done, return to Nadarin for 1300 Exp. and 1800 gp.(the Basilisk is worth another 7000 Exp.).

10- GENERAL STORE:

Storekeeper:
Shop: Excellent selection of potions, some of which are cursed.
Identify: Yes.
Steal: Yes.

11- WAREHOUSE:

There is a Blur scroll inside the desk at the end of the warehouse. The guards shouldn't be summoned.

12- HOUSE:

There is a Potion of Healing on the second floor of this house.
