9 - Closed Gate
To open this gate, you'll need to throw something onto the pressure plate to the southwest (#10). You'll have line-of-sight on the pressure plate from the spot where you might have picked up a
Crystal Flower (#6).
10 - Pressure Plate
This pressure plate controls the gates to the east (#9) and west (#11). If the pressure plate is weighted down, then the gate to the east will be open. If not, then the gate to the west will be open. The first time you remove something from the pressure plate, the first secret door to the north will open up, releasing a pair of Spiders to attack you.
Next to the pressure plate you'll find a
Throwing Axe.
11 - Closed Gate
This gate is controlled by the pressure plate to the east.
12 - Pedestal
On the pedestal here you'll find a Mine Key, which you'll need to the south (#14). Picking up the key will cause a secret door to the east to open, releasing a Spider and an Eyctopus to attack you. Next to the pedestal you'll find a
Bear Pelt.
13 - Sack
Inside this Sack you'll find
Bread, a
Lizard on a Stick, and a
Smoked Sea Bass.
14 - Throwing Axe
You'll find a
Throwing Axe here.
15 - Secret Pedestal
This pedestal is one of the secrets in the game. Discovering it will cause a secret door south of the windgate (Exit D) to open, releasing some Spiders to attack you. On top of the pedestal you'll find a
Crystal Amulet. Next to the pedestal you'll find an
Antivenom potion.
16 - Locked Gate
You'll need a Mine Key (#12) to open this gate.
17 - Spell Shooter Puzzle
In this puzzle, a spell shooter will shoot a bolt east towards a receptacle (as shown on the map above). Each time the bolt hits the receptacle, all of the pits in the puzzle will toggle, either opening or closing. If you fall down one of the pits, then you'll land in an isolated part of the
Crystal Mine Abyss that is filled with spike traps. So it's a good idea to save before trying anything.
The first thing you'll need to do in the puzzle is wait for the pit closest to you to close, and then cross it. Then wait for the pit under the nearby lever (#18) to close, and pull the lever. This will open the gate next to the lever, which will allow you to cross the pit to the northwest.
At the block of five pits, you should wait for them to close, and then stand just to the south of them. When the spell shooter's bolt hits you, you should quickly head north, pull the lever (#19), and then go through the exit (#20). After escaping the puzzle, you might want to head back in when it's safe and press the button near the exit. This will open a secret door to the south of the puzzle (#21).

This room is one of the secrets in the game. Inside the room you'll find a
Tome of Health on a pedestal.
22 - Lightning Bomb
If you destroy the crates here, then you'll find a
Lightning Bomb behind them.
23 - Shelf
You'll find a
Meteor Helm in the shelf here.
24 - Pedestal
On the pedestal here you'll find a
Lightning Bow. On the ground next to the pedestal you'll find two
Broadhead Arrows.
Exits
- One-way windgate. The windgate under the bridge here will take you back up to the Nine Pits puzzle in the
Crystal Mine Entrance.
- One-way windgate. This windgate will take you back up to the Fearless puzzle in the
Crystal Mine Entrance.
