Overview

1 - Grate (Main Level) / Closed Gate (Upper Level 2)

The grate on the Main level can't be opened, but if you drop an item through it, then you'll remove the magical barrier to the west (#2). The gate on Upper Level 2 will only open if the bolt hits the receptacle in the Nine Windgates puzzle (#6).

2 - Magical Barrier (Main Level)

To remove the magical barrier here, you'll need to drop an item through the grate to the east (#1). With the barrier out of the way, you'll be able to descend to the Lowest Level of the map.

3 - Pressure Plate (Lowest Level)

Placing an item on this pressure plate will open the gate to the north (#5).

4 - Potion of Dexterity (Upper Level 1)

You'll only be able to reach the Potion of Dexterity here by completing the Nine Windgates puzzle (#6). The puzzle will grant you access to a moving magical bridge, and you'll be able to drop down from the bridge to this spot.

5 - Closed Gate (Upper Level 2)

To open this gate, you'll need to drop an item on the pressure plate to the south (#3).

6 - Nine Windgates Puzzle (Upper Level 2)

This puzzle includes a button and nine pressure plates arranged in a 3x3 grid. If you place an item onto one of the pressure plates, then a "left turn" windgate will appear above it. If you press the button, then a magical bridge will appear to the east of the puzzle, and a bolt will fire out of the demon mouth to the west. If the bolt hits the receptacle to the southeast of the puzzle, then the magical bridge will disappear, and a gate to the south (#1) will open.

Your goal in the puzzle is to create a long enough path for the bolt to follow that you'll be able to press the button, then cross the bridge, and finally arrive at the gate before the bolt hits the receptacle. A solution to the puzzle (#7) is shown on the map above. Completing the puzzle will grant you access to a moving magical bridge, which will allow you to reach a Potion of Dexterity (#4) and the stairs to the next level (Exit C).

Note: When you first arrive at the puzzle, you'll find 10 Pellets and a Venomfang Pick on the pressure plates.

7 - Puzzle Solution (Upper Level 2)

One way to solve the Nine Windgates puzzle (#6) is to place items on these five pressure plates.

8 - Cannon Balls (Upper Level 1)

You'll find three Cannon Balls here.

9 - Lever (Upper Level 1)

You'll only be able to reach this lever by dropping down to it after completing the Nine Windgates puzzle (#6). Pulling the lever will cause a one-way windgate to appear right below it. The windgate will send you back up to the exit from the Nine Windgates puzzle (#1) so you're not forced to repeat it.

10 - Lever (Upper Level 2)

This lever will open the gate to the north and also the secret door to the north.

11 - Potions of Resurrection

You'll find two Potions of Resurrection here. The hallway with the potions is one of the secrets in the game. To access the hallway, you'll have to complete the Nine Windgates puzzle (#6) and pull the lever to the south (#10). This will open the secret door to the hallway. Then you'll need to return to the Nine Windgates puzzle and press the button to start it. This will create the magical bridge giving you access to the secret door.

12 - Sack (Lowest Level)

Inside the Sack here you'll find Borra, Bread, and a Salted Sausage.

13 - Pellets (Main Level)

You'll find 10 Pellets here.

14 - Cannon Balls (Main Level)

You'll find five Cannon Balls here.

15 - Sack (Main Level)

Inside the Sack here you'll find four Blooddrop Caps, seven Etherweeds, and two Falconskyres.

16 - Button (Upper Level 1)

When you press this button, two Fire Elementals will attack you, but you'll create a magical bridge to the north, which will give you access to the ladder leading up to Upper Level 2.

17 - Button (Upper Level 2)

When you press this button, three Fire Elementals will attack you, but you'll create the magical bridge that will take you to the exit from the room (#20). You'll only be able to reach this button by dropping down to it from above.

18 - Greater Healing Potion (Upper Level 1)

You'll find a Greater Healing Potion here.

19 - Locked Chest (Upper Level 1)

The only way to reach this chest is to drop down to it from above. Inside the chest you'll find four Fire Bombs and four Frost Bombs. The nearby magical bridge will appear automatically when you move around the platform with the chest.

29 - Lindworm Battle

When you go through the gate here, you'll start the penultimate battle of the game -- you versus the Lindworm (with the Island Master only peripherally involved). This battle will proceed in stages. In each stage, the Lindworm will start out protected by an invulnerability shield, and numerous enemies will get summoned to the roof. After you've defeated enough of the enemies, the Lindworm will lose its shield for a while, and then the next stage will start up. The stages we've seen -- there are no doubt more -- are described below:
  • Stage 1 - Ghouls (200 xp)
  • Stage 2 - Ratlings (150 xp) and Wargs (80 xp)
  • Stage 3 - Dark Acolytes (800 xp), Medusae (400 xp), and Snakes (200 xp)
  • Stage 4 - Magma Golems (1500 xp) and Uggardians (500 xp)
  • Stage 5 - Wasps (150 xp)
  • Stage 6 - Mimics (400 xp) and Xeleroids (250 xp)
  • Stage 7 - Mummies (90 xp)
  • Stage 8 - Turtles (60 xp)
  • Stage 9 - Ghouls (200 xp), Skeletons (100 xp), and a Wormblood (750 xp)
  • Stage 10 - Herders (65, 75 xp), Herder Spore Pods (75 xp), and Toads (240 xp)
  • Stage 11 - Spiders (225 xp)
  • Stage 12 - Ice Guardians (500 xp)
  • Stage 13 - Wyverns (250 xp)
  • Stage 14 - Air Elementals (400 xp) and Fire Elementals (275 xp)
The Lindworm won't seek you out while it's invulnerable, but if you get close enough to it, then it will bite you. So try to avoid it while you're maneuvering around the enemies on the roof. Then when the Lindworn loses its invulnerability, it'll get much more aggressive, and it'll charge at you and hit you with a special version of Ice Shards.

There are a couple of ways to think about the battle. If the spawned enemies aren't much of a problem for you, then you can just hang around on the roof and kill them for a while. This is a pretty decent way to grind xp and food items. But you should damage the Lindworm during the waves, and then when things start looking dicey (or after the Herder wave), finish it off. If this is your first time playing the game, then we'd just recommend killing the Lindworm as quickly as possible. There are other, safer (but slower) ways to grind xp and food.

When you defeat the Lindworm, it will drop a Power Gem. You'll also probably find a bunch of other stuff on the roof. Besides the normal random drops from the enemies, it looks like you're also guaranteed to find a Crystal Shard of Healing plus a variety of bombs and potions.

Note: This isn't the final battle in the game, so don't use up all of your potions and crystal shards here.

30 - Exit Portal

Going through this portal will allow you to leave the island. But as you fly away, you'll spot the Island Master watching you go. You only defeated the Lindworm in the previous battle (#29). To confront the Island Master, you'll have to do two more things: go to the Shrine of Balance (its entrance is in the Castle Nex courtyard in Sleet Island) and pick up the Essence of Balance, and then go to the Trickster's Lair (its entrance is in the Hub part of the River Tunnels) and summon the Trickster.

  2. One-way windgate (Lowest Level). Entering this windgate will send you back up to the Main Level.
  3. Stairs between the Test Chamber and the Void.
  4. Two-way windgate to the ground floor of Castle Nex.
  5. Stairs between the Void and the Castle Roof.
