Walkthrough

You'll start out on the Armstrong, a human colony ship. A Kerak assault pod will dock itself to the Armstrong, and enemies will start spilling inside. For this map in the campaign, you'll need to defeat those enemies and make sure that the ship can get away to safety.

Note: To save your game, you'll need to visit a health module in an aid station, or press escape and select "save" from the main menu. Despite what the manual claims, there isn't any way to quicksave your game.

Another Note: Most aid stations in the game will include a workbench, where you can buy upgrades and construct health packs and grenades. But the aid stations in this first map will only include health stations, and so you won't be able to use your upgrade materials until the next map.

Intruders

When you gain control of Seth Walker (#1), you'll have to fend off an initial Kerak assault (#2). You'll have soldiers helping you out, so you shouldn't have too much trouble. Press H if you need to use a health pack, and press Z at the end of the battle to pick up all of the upgrade materials.

You'll next need to move to the engine room (#5) to get the ship's three engines (#6, #7, #8) back on-line. You'll encounter more Kerak assault troops along the way, but you'll find plenty of health packs, plus you'll pass by a few aid stations, and so it should be easy enough to keep Seth healthy. Jake Henderson will tag along with you for the trip, but his gun will jam, and so he won't be able to help you in combat. He'll just lead the way.

When you reach the engine room, you'll discover that it is leaking radiation, and so you'll constantly lose health as you make your way to the engine control computers. But you'll find a few more health packs on the floor, plus another aid station on the northern side of the room, and so you should be able to get in and get back out without Seth dying (you can also use the "sprint" ability to move more quickly). To fix the engines, you'll just need to left-click on them.

Refuge

Once you've fixed the engines, Pilot (the ship AI) will announce that it is going to release diethyl parathion (a poison gas) inside the ship to kill off the remaining Kerak, and so you'll need to move to your designated coldsleep pod.

However, when you reach the transit terminal (#9), Jake will get wounded, and you'll have to fend off a Kerak assault to give everybody time to get away. This assault will be similar to the initial assault, except that you'll be by yourself, and so you'll need to be more careful. But basically, if you focus on individual enemies and then trigger "shard swarm" whenever you get surrounded, you should be fine.

Eventually you'll be notified that it's time to go, and you'll just need to run down the steps and left click on the transit car (Exit A) to complete the mission. You'll receive 2 skill points for completing the quest.

Note: For an easier time in the battle, immediately move down the steps to the transit car. Then all of the enemies will all come at you from one direction, and you should be able to hold out indefinitely (and pick up some extra upgrade materials).
