Secret Passage

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Area Note

The Secret Passage is an Easter Egg area in the game. You’ll only be able to reach this area if Hades drops a quest object called The Overlord when you kill him. The Overlord is a rare drop -- you might have to kill Hades over a dozen times to get it -- but it will work for all of the difficulty settings, and you’ll be able to transfer it between characters, and so you’ll only have to pick it up once.

Most of the enemies in the Secret Passage are named for people who worked on the game. For example, the “- V -” creature (#1) was named for producer Michael Verrette.

Walkthrough

1 - V

“- V -” is a flying creature that can’t be hit by ranged attacks, and if you kill it, it will just re-spawn. Fortunately, “- V -” won’t attack you unless you attack it, and so you can just walk on by.

2 - Dave

Dave is a giant turtle -- perhaps the model for The Overlord. You shouldn’t have any trouble killing him.

3 - Parnell

4 - David

5 - Cells

Most of the creatures in the cells (#5) will be easy to kill. Many won’t acknowledge your presence or attempt to defend themselves, so it won’t take long to kill them. But in one cell (#5a) you’ll find a creature named Arthur. Arthur will behave like the other creatures -- until you kill him, and then a skeleton named Toxeus the Murderer will replace him.

Toxeus is very nasty, but there are a couple tricks to killing him. If you have a summoning spell, then you can summon a creature into Toxeus’ cell without opening the door to the cell. The summoned creature might not last very long, but it should do a little bit of damage before it dies. This method is slow but risk-free.

If you don’t have any summoning spells, and if you can’t go toe-to-toe with Toxeus, then the other trick is to use the staircase before the entrance to the prison area (near where David spawns at #4). Toxeus will only chase you to the staircase, and then he’ll turn around. So you can use the staircase as a safe place to heal and catch your breath, and then only attack Toxeus when you’re ready.

6 - Chooch

Chooch is some sort of skeleton, and he’ll use Typhon’s “spear puking” attack, but he won’t have enough health points to present a challenge. Next to Chooch you’ll find a majestic chest that’s even more majestic than the others. This is the best chest in the game, but in order to open it you’ll have to kill all of the nearby creatures, including the creatures in the cells (#5).
