Gullykin (AR4000)

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Overview

This small halfling village is perhaps the most hospitable place on the Sword Coast. Its inhabitants are friendly, and they welcome you into their homes. They have also been spared by the iron shortage and bandit raids that are plaguing the coast at the moment. However, there has been increased activity at the Firewine Bridge just south of the village. A lot of kobolds have been spotted and they seem to be more organized than ever. This makes the folks in Gullykin rather worried.

1 - Gandolar Luckyfoot

Gandolar is the mayor of Gullykin. He'll give you some background information about the region, including Durlag's Tower (TOSC) to the northeast, the Firewine Bridge to the south, and the local temple (#3). If you talk to Gandolar a second time, then he'll also mention that kobolds have been harassing the village, and he'll ask you to deal with them. Eventually you'll discover that an ogre mage (in the Firewine Ruins) is the one responsible for the attacks, and when you return to Gandolar after defeating it, he'll reward you with 250 gp.

2 - Jenkal's Home

In the basement of this home, you'll run into Jenkal, who won't be happy to see you. No matter what you say to him, he'll attack you, but if you mention that it smells like kobold, then he'll admit that he's the one who has been letting the kobolds into the village. You'll earn 290 xp for killing Jenkal.

Also in the basement, you can pick up a Potion of Stone Form and a scroll of Protection from Poison, and you can detect a secret door leading to the Firewine Ruins. The secret door is the most convenient entrance into the ruins, as it will take you right to the ogre mage leading the kobolds, and you won't have to wade through a horde of kobold commandos.

3 - Temple and Winery

On the main floor of this building, you'll meet Alvanhendar. He'll perform regular priest duties, including selling some supplies. On the lower floor, you can detect a secret door leading to the Firewine Ruins.

4 - Halfling Home

In the basement of this home, you'll find a Wand of Magic Missiles in a locked chest.

5 - Halfling Home

In the basement of this home, you can pick up a Cursed Scroll of Summon Monster. If you don't mind stealing, then you can also grab a Potion of Defense.

6 - Halfling Home

In this home, you'll find a Sling +1 in a locked cupboard on the main floor.

7 - Drakar, Halacan, Molkar, and Morvin

This group of bounty hunters will claim that they're more competent than the other ones you've faced. We're not sure if that's true, but they're certainly more numerous. No matter what you say to them, they'll attack you.

When the battle starts up, you should immediately target the mage Halacan and then the cleric Drakar. Once they're down, you should be able to mop up the fighters Molkar and Morvin without too much trouble. All told, you'll earn 3700 xp for the battle, and you'll find a Long Sword +1, Mail of the Dead (aka Chain Mail +2), a Morning Star +1, a Potion of Absorption, a Potion of Heroism, and scrolls of Color Spray, Detect Illusion, and Sleep.
