Coldwood: Wizard's Dungeon

Wizard's Dungeon
1 - TELEPORTATION CIRCLE

Use the teleportation Circle to exit back to surface and to Coldwood - East area.


2 - ELEMENTALS

No matter which path you choose to continue from area #1, a Huge Earth Elemental with a couple of Air Elementals will be waiting for you in these corridors (The northern door is locked however and cannot be opened).


3 - FIRE SUMMONING CHAMBERS

These two chambers are used to summon Huge Fire Elemental continuously. In order to prevent further summoning of Fire Elementals you will need to destroy the pedestals around the blazers. This will cause the destruction of the blazers in the middle and no more Huge Fire Elementals will be summoned. Also you might want to loot these areas for some random items and treasures.


4 - UMBER HULKS

Four Umber Hulks guard this room and you might want to be prepared before engaging these Giant bug-like creatures.


5 - LIBRARY (North-West)

On the bookshelf here you will find a Book labeled "The Nature of Water Summoning" and a diary page. The book explains how you can summon a Water Elemental (you will need to summon one later at area #9) and the diary page mentions a summoning duel between two mages, the master of this dungeon Cyril and a witch Nebacha (the page contains clues to solve the Gong Riddle at area #11).


6 - LIBRARY (South-East)

In this similar room to the one at area #5 you will find another book with the title "The Nature of Water Summoning" on the bookshelf.


7 - SHADOW FIENDS & INGREDIENTS

After dispatching a considerable number of Shadow Fiends in this room search the bodies lying around and you will find a Bodak's tooth and a Rakshasa's Eye. The containers nearby have some random loot as well.


8 - WIZARD'S LAB

When you enter the lab search the chest and you will find the . You will need the ring if you are not an arcane user to summon the Water Elemental at area #9. Also there is a Quartz Crystal within as well. Inside the Alchemist Apparacatus you will find a book labeled Laboratory Notes. The notes contain information as of how to create the . You can create the Staff here by using the Altar nearby. Both the ingredients you need can be found within this dungeon, a Rakshasa Eye at area #7 and a Quartz Crystal inside the chest here. Place the ingredients into the Altar and cast Dominate Person on it. Open the altar afterwards and pick up the impressive Staff of Command.

9 - SUMMONING POOL

Inside this room you will find the Summoning Pool. According to the Book "The Nature of Water Summoning" you have to place a Slaad's Tongue inside the pool and then cast Melf's Acid Arrow on it. If you cannot cast the spell you can use the Ring of Melf acquired from area #8. Once you perform the ritual successfully a Water Elemental will appear. You can then ask the elemental to either give you a magic item () or free Nax. Nax is the fellow that stole the Snow Globe from Lillian and he is now imprisoned within the dungeon at area #10. If you choose to free Nax, he will give you more detailed instructions as of how to acquire the Snow Globe, but you can actually do it without freeing him (the diary page at area #5 contains all the clues you need to solve the Gong Riddle) if you want to take the Ring instead.


10 - NAX

Nax the wizard is held captive in this cell. He got teleported here when he entered the dungeon and triggered a ward that imprisoned him within this cell. According to Lillian, Nax is the owner of the Snow Globe. However Nax does not actually carries the Globe but he will pretend he does and promise to give it to you if you free him. To free Nax you must summon the Water Elemental at area #9 and ask it to free him. If you decide to free him, he will tell you what you need to do to get the Snow Globe instead of giving it. You will also be rewarded with 100 experience points for freeing him.


11 - GONG ROOM

Before you can proceed to the room at area #12 you must first solve the Gong Riddle here. Nax at area #10 can give you some clues for solving this riddle but all you have to do is study the Diary Page you got from area #5 and use the gongs in the order that the creatures were summoned in the battle between Cyril and Nebacha.

Here is the correct order to trigger the Gongs:

- "A Puma snarls"
- "A Dog barks"
- "A Bear growls"
- "A Dragon roars"

After you solve the riddle the door to the west will open and you can then access area #12 and pick up the Snow Globe.


12 - SNOW GLOBE

Once inside the room, be ready to face a Huge Fire Elemental. When you defeat it proceed to the pedestal in the middle and pick up the Snow Globe. There is some random loot and treasure to be found in the containers around this room as well.

With the Snow Globe in your possessions, return back to Lillian at the Drinking House for further instructions.
