Demigod Interview

Demigod lead designer Mike Marr answers a couple pages worth of questions about the RTS/RPG crossbreed in a new interview on GameShark.
For the uninitiated, can you give us an idea of what Demigod is all about?

Demigod is a team based action game that blurs the line between RTS and RPG. You fight and play the game as an RTS, but level up, purchase abilities in a skill tree and buy items like you would in an RPG.

...

There is no choice to create a truly custom Demigod from the start of the game. Do you feel this could turn off those who love to tinker right out of the gate? How much can you personalize your Demigod as the game progresses?

One of the difficult decisions game designers are faced with is what to put into their games and what not to. I personally feel that Demigod is the better for not offering a full-level of tinkering and staying true to its calling- team based combat.

Each Demigod has roughly 30 skills, a unique favor item to equip for a match and nine inventory slots. Between all of that there's a huge amount of personalization you can give to your Demigod during the course of a match.
