Fable Reviews

Two more reviews of Fable have surfaced on the web, and this time they're at TalkXbox and BonusStage. TalkXbox gives the game an overall score of 8.9/10:
Is Fable the open ended RPG of tomorrow the developers said it would be? Sort of. The story is fairly linear, but it doesn't force you through it. You're allowed to wander through the game at your own pace, gaining renown and building a name for yourself or just getting drunk and flirting with the tavern help every night. Combat is fun and fast paced, but it gets monotonous after a while if you don't try experimenting with new abilities. Fable is a good RPG and is a great addition to the Xbox lineup of RPGs. If your interested in exploring the nature of good and evil in a video game and don't mind wearing out your X button, give it a try. It's still the only game I've played where I was able to marry the barmaid and the mayor of town on the same day!

And BonusStage gives the game an overall score of 7.9/10:
In the end, it all boils down to this: we waited about five years for a beautiful, immersive, and imaginative roleplaying game, but were given something that doesn't deserve to lick the dirt off of Morrowind's feet. I'd advise players to rent this one first because although it can easily be beaten in a day or two, Fable does have a lot of replay value. Not only are there the different visual effects that happen to your character, but to do all of the things you missed the first time through help this game out. I can tell you this though, Fable could have been, and should have been, so much more.
