A Splicer is simply a Rapture citizen who has repeatedly "spliced" themselves with Adam. While the substance may provide a host of physical enhancements, it also takes a toll on the mind. Spider Splicers are crazed humans armed with hooked blades that allow them to climb ceilings and walls with ease. They also make formidable ranged or melee weapons, should the Spider Splicer turn its attention toward you.
There are five research levels that can be attained by snapping photos of Spider Splicers:
Research Level 1: Increased Damage (+)
Research Level 2: Spider Splicer Organs are turned into First Aid Kits.
