Dragon Age: Origins Reviews

There isn't a whole lot of news to report about on this long holiday weekend, but there are at least some new Dragon Age: Origins reviews to round up.

YouGamers gives it an 86/100:
Dragon Age: Origins is an exceptional role playing game that features a strong setting and storyline and offers quite a challenge, effectively requiring you to either stack your group and abuse overpowered abilities or play on Easy as combat is poorly balanced. Suffers also from offensively poor handling of downloadable content - when will the DLC milking stop?

DarkZero gives it an 8/10:
Is it the RPG of the decade, as some have famously claimed? Nah. Not for me, at least. As great as it is, there are too many irritations with the combat (and too many unnecessarily drawn-out combat sections) to hail it as a true classic. Dragon Age's story, and the decisions it forced me to make, will certainly keep swimming around in my head for quite some time but the likes of Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic kept me engaged throughout the entire experience, while Dragon Age almost put me to sleep on several occasions. But it is nonetheless a brilliant game that appears cliché-ridden at first, but reveals a whole load of its own ideas as you go. Just make sure you've got no other games to play for at least a few weeks.

GamerCenterOnline gives it a 9.1/10:
Dragon Age is one of those titles that can easily take hours out of your life, which, surprisingly, isn't a bad thing because you won't want them back. That, along with the fact that BioWare has chosen to introduce downloadable content, proves that Dragon Age is something that you do not want to miss. But, even though I did have a lot of fun playing Dragon Age, there's just to many glitches that took away from the overall experience. However, if you can get past them, this is the game for you. In addition, never has a game been fully worth the $60; Dragon Age's quality surpasses that.

Console Obsession gives it an 8/10:
Dragon Age: Origins is an excellent and absorbing new world for Bioware, and the game mechanics, whilst not without their problems, are largely sound. The return to a fantasy world and additional complexity to the game will come as a delight to old school Bioware fans, whilst, for other western RPG fans, there will likely be more than enough to appease them for many hours to come.

And Games Xtreme gives it an 8.5/10:
It's about time that Bioware made a fantasy game like this and regardless of the issues mentioned above with the console port, this is an excellent game in terms of gameplay and story that deserves more than a second look. It has a wealth of things to do, a highly developed world and more. Play it once and you've only just scratched the surface of the game.
