Fable II Reviews

Lionhead Studios' recently released Fable sequel is the subject of five more reviews, and they're all quite favorable. The first is at The Gamers' Temple with a surprisingly average score of 73%:
As much as I truly tried to enjoy Fable II, the fun gameplay and convincing world just couldn't make up for the game's drawbacks. For open world RPGs (or MMORPGs) based on player choice, it's a Fallout 3/Elder Scrolls/World of Warcraft world, and Fable II is only a half-hearted effort when compared to those giants. With the first game, my thought was, "Just one calorie, not enough Zelda." With the sequel, it is, "Just one calorie, not enough anything." Besides, who ever heard of a customizable RPG where you can't even decide what your character looks like?

The second is at Ace Gamez with a score of 9/10:
It's clear from the get-go that Fable II is a labour of love, a fantastically involving, sprawling, deep, rich and charming adventure that will take hold and not let go for literally hours on end. Whether you want to waste days strumming your lute to a crowded bar, playing fetch with your dog, chopping wood or bedding whores; whether you want to be a dashing hero, a fat, greedy thief or a beautiful yet deadly sorceress; whether you want to buy every building in Albion or kill every resident of every town, or maybe just run around slaying rabbits and kicking chickens in your undercrackers, the choice, this time around, really is yours.

The third is at Gaming Age with a score of "A":
Fable is a rare role playing game that offers incredibly deep customization, style and exploration. It can be both charming and disturbing. Its missions offer equal parts of satisfaction and tragedy, and when you're not on a mission you'll be making your own bed in which to lie (including a dog, he's literally always around). There's a lot to see (and destroy), a lot to do (and not do), and a whole wide world waiting to be conquered.

The fourth is at Game Chronicles with a score of 9.5/10:
Fable II doesn't belong to any single genre, instead it paints an engaging tapestry with an interesting story, solid gameplay, beautiful graphics, and near perfect sound. I only regret having to wait until the downloadable content comes out to give me something entirely new to experience. Anyone should give it a try, because it's almost impossible to not have fun with this game.

And the fifth is at Totally 360 with a score of 9/10:
Overall, Fable 2 is a fantastic game. Lionhead did a great job in bringing the world of Albion to life on the XBox360 and you could spend many, many hours simply exploring the world of Albion. The (bread crumb) trail concept is also thing of brilliance. You can explore the world at any time and go anywhere without the risk of getting lost. Whenever you are ready to continue on with your quest, simply follow the trail to the next destination. Combat works really well and the world definitely feels alive. It feels like things are happening, even when you are not there. Fable 2 is one title among many this holiday season but be sure to give this one a try. For gamers who enjoy RPG titles, you will get a kick out of how deep this game can be. If you are brand new to the genre, you can also play this game as casually as you would like without getting overwhelmed.
