Stormfront Studios Shuts Down

Both Gamasutra and Next Generation are reporting that after two decades of game development, Stormfront Studios is shutting its doors. In case you weren't aware, Stormfront was responsible for several Dungeons & Dragons video games over the years, including the original Neverwinter Nights on AOL, the "Savage Frontier" Gold Box games, Stronghold, Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor, and, most recently, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone.
A sullen rep for Stormfront explained in a phone interview Tuesday the reason for the closure. "Frankly, we didn't get pitched, and the project [we were working on] made no revenue."

The rep added, "The economy is such that the projects that we weren't winning, ended."

The 33 employees at Stormfront learned of the news on Monday.

Stormfront has been around for nearly 20 years, having most recently released the movie-licensed titles Spiderwick Chronicles, Eragon and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Sad. I wish this was an April Fools' joke.
