Mage Knight: Apocalypse Reviews

A couple more mediocre reviews for Namco's Mage Knight: Apocalypse made their way to the web earlier this week. The first is at GameSpy with an overall score of 1.5/5:
The final nail in Mage Knight's coffin is the camera system. It's the most bizarre use of a third-person camera of any game in recent memory. The problem is that it doesn't automatically stay behind you. In order to spin the camera on its axis, you need to hold down the space bar while moving the mouse, which doesn't make a lick of sense. Why not just slap the camera behind the character and allow it to auto pan and follow you? It's good that you can use the WASD keys to move -- it's very comfortable to move this way -- but the whole spacebar thing is just downright bizarre and totally unnecessary.

And the second is at PALGN with an overall score of 4.5/10:
Mage Knight: Apocalypse ends up being a terribly average, or even below-average, RPG. In a world filled with so many other titles of the same ilk, it's very difficult to recommend such a game. Although the core of the game is not fundamentally flawed, the execution of it ends up resulting in a game that, whilst it has some appealing aspects, ends up being extremely hackneyed. Extreme RPG fans or those that can't get enough of the table game and want to flesh out their concept of the Mage Knight universe may want to take a look, but it's difficult to recommend this title to anyone else, especially considering the vast array of better ones out there.
