World of Warcraft Interviews

Both Joystiq and Mercury News have published interviews with prominent members of the World of Warcraft development team. The interview at Joystiq is with lead designer Jeff Kaplan:
Q: Is there any talk of implementing integrated voice chat within WoW?

A: We've been discussing it. There are a lot of technical challenges to go with that and some legal issues as well because of the different ways you can set up voice chat -- either on a person's IP or we provide the bandwith. We've been looking at voice chat options, but we're probably not going to have anything for The Burning Crusade, but it's definitely something that we recognize as an enhancement to the game that we'd like to add at some time.

While the interview at Mercury News is with Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Morhaime:
Q: Are you going to do a movie with the Warcraft universe?

A: Yes, we are. It's something we have been wanting to do from the beginning. We have always thought the universe was rich enough to make a great movie. Really we are taking a time to find a great partner. Anyone who has seen movies based on games knows that it's pretty easy to have them come out not right. We wanted to have a partner with the same vision of how epic and cool this could really be. We are thrilled to have found Legendary. They share a lot of our philosophies. They don't do a lot of projects. They try to make sure that the projects they take on are really big. Batman Begins is a great example where you had a series of Batman movies. A lot of people agree that it's by far the best Batman movie. They are really excited. They are going to put some serious resources behind it.
