Auto Assault Preview

GameDAILY has kicked up a three-page preview of NCsoft and NetDevil's Auto Assault, after spending some firsthand time with the game during the game's Penny Arcade beta event. Some recent changes:
The development team was reconfigured so that each faction was given to a different team of writers, operating under their own lead designer. The goal of each team was to make their respective factions look as cool as possible, while being wholly unique from the others. This encompassed everything from their appearance to their respective vehicles. It also included adding extensive hand written back-stories and missions, and even how the environment affected different sections of the world. Furthermore, there was never a real unification between the teams on what each faction was supposed to be like, so in the end each team ended up with a different spin on the others - creating a diversity that's more like real life. According to Brown, the changes are so vast that, "playing a different race is like playing a different game." While I wasn't able to confirm this first hand during the Penny Arcade event, you can bet that I will as the beta period (minus the NDA) continues.
