Smiths are some of the most popular crafters. Not only do you create mail and plate armor, but weapons too! True, only four of the nine classes will ever require a Blacksmith for armoring needs, but each class could benefit from a new weapon now and then. Even Priests choose to learn how to use daggers now and then. However, the best Blacksmiths use leather, cloth, and even jewels, in their creations.
A Blacksmith's Hammer must be in your pack. Though that may sound obvious, it's often forgotten in the bank by an anxious smith wanting to try out a new pattern. You'll also need an anvil upon which to bang that hammer. Pull the Blacksmithing icon from your abilities menu (P) into your hotbar and activate it. This brings up your Blacksmithing menu and shows you all the plans you currently have available.
