Bioware took a risk breaking from established genres. However, with Jade Empire they maintain their place as one of the top game developers. Almost everything in the game is a major improvement over their work on KOTOR, which was already one of the best out there. Their only major failing was the combat system. Though the game overall should appeal both to the mass public and the Wuxia cult following, martial arts combat is one of the most important elements in Wuxia. In not giving it proper attention, Bioware has lost a lot of the flavor that made the genre interesting in the first place. Jade Empire is a tasty treat, but I'm still waiting for the main course.
