...the way combat is handled in Guild Wars certainly made the battles themselves very different from the norm. The various professions and tons of skills, both offensive and defensive, gave the players tons of various options for combat. With long range magic attacks from Elementists and Mesmers to ranged combat for the Rangers to the close up battles from the Warriors and adding healing powers of the Monk, the battles we participated in had tons of different outcomes. Indeed, the combat reminded us of the multiplayer battles in one of our favorite but little remembers action titles, The Wheel of Time from the now defunct Legend Entertainment. One of the coolest aspects of the combat is that you actually gain experience for your character if you are victorious in battle.
