Fable Reviews

Big Blue Box and Lionhead's Fable continues to receive high scores, with yet another pair of positive reviews making their way to the web. The first is over at Warcry with an overall score of 9.0/10:
Overall, I thought Fable was a fun game that addresses two distinct styles of play. On the surface, it's a traditional story RPG, with some interesting asides, but as you dig deeper there is much more to do and explore. I've found that rushing through the game and only taking on the core quests will leave a player with the feeling of missing out. However, taking your time and completing side quests, in addition to perhaps interacting with the local NPCs (perhaps getting hitched even), provide a richer and much more varied play experience. One suggestion for future iterations of Fable (if there are any plans to do a sequel) would be to include the option to chose your gender. In my experience, there are plenty of female heroes out there as well, and they deserve their moment in the sun. All that aside, I think that Fable is definitely worth the investment in both time and money. The engaging story, though linear, gives the hero a sense of purpose. The immersive experience of beautiful visuals, a pleasant and appropriate score, and first-rate voice acting bring it all home.

And the second is at Gaming Horizon with an overall score of 9.4/10:
Fable is one of the rare few titles out there that leaves you with a satisfying feeling for making choices whether good or evil. It is a real treat to watch your character develop on-screen before your eyes based off the decisions you make. The story starts off slow but becomes engaging the further you get and will surprise you with plot elements usually found only in the movies. Don't sell yourself short by playing only the storyline missions, as there is much more to explore. The ability to play through three different times (good, evil, and neutral) and enjoy three different experiences is the ultimate icing on the cake.
