Fable Reviews

Tonight we bring you news of two more reviews for Fable, as well as the second installment of Digital Entertainment's three-part review. The first is at GamersInfo with no overall score:
My biggest gripe about Fable is the length. Lionhead Times claims 100+ hours of gameplay, or 30 hours if all you do are the main story quests. I was very sad when I beat the game in 16 hours. I could have beaten it even quicker, but I chose to do all the side quests, and walked around the world digging up and fishing for all the extra goodies you can find. I opened all but one of the "Demon Doors". Sixteen hours just isn't long enough for a true RPG. I understand that a game of this magnitude takes a long time to make and lots of people to do it; hence, the length. This is not really a shortcoming of the designer. It's more an indication of where the industry is going. I had a blast playing this game. Peter's sense of humor came out as usual (love the British flag on my underwear). Well thought out and masterfully executed. Is it worth 60 bucks? Maybe if it were longer. If you have 60 bucks lying around then definitely give some thought into buying it. If not, at least rent it. A very fun, though very short, game.

The second is at Daytrum with a perfect score of 5/5:
Fable is a breakthrough roleplay game that is ambitious, does a fantastic job of telling a story and simulating a life and career, and delivers a truly entertaining experience. Future games that can build on Fable-maintaining its ability to convey a life story, but toning down the violence and mature themes, will eventually make for excellent and thoughtful games for kids.

And the third (but actually second...) is at Digital Entertainment News:
Going through a town, slaughtering all of the inhabitants, then buying up the houses and renting them out to the new inhabitants may seem like a lot of work, and it is. It is exactly this sort of effort that will be needed to actually become as evil as one can be. It's not going to be enough to do some bad deeds, it's going to take quite a lot of work on the player's part to generate a truly scary character with horns growing out his head.
