BioWare fan community hits 2 million members

Company to celebrate rapid community growth with prize giveaway

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada, July 28, 2004 BioWare Corp. announced today that its official fan community has reached 2 million registered users. Contributing to the rapid growth of the BioWare Community is the popularity of upcoming titles such as Jade Empire, to be published by Microsoft on the Xbox video game system in Q1 2005; as well as Dragon Age, BioWare's next RPG revolution for the PC.
To celebrate the community's success, BioWare is pleased to announce The BioWare 2 Million Member Celebration, a month long event that includes prize giveaways to reward loyal BioWare Community members. BioWare has partnered with industry leaders Alienware, Atari, LucasArts, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, to provide hardware and games to selected winners who enter the contest at the BioWare Community site (www.bioware.com).

The BioWare-developed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which has garnered more than 45 Game of the Year awards, and other titles developed by BioWare, have helped drive the BioWare Community's growth of more than 500,000 new members since January 2004. Information released for BioWare's upcoming martial arts action role-playing game Jade Empire has driven large numbers of fans to that game's official website (www.jade-empire.com) to learn more, and the May announcement of Dragon Age (dragonage.bioware.com) has fans in a frenzy about BioWare's next great PC RPG. The lasting strength of the Neverwinter Nights franchise and its fan community, which has generated close to 4000 user-created game modules, has also contributed greatly to the BioWare Community's success.

(We are continuously astonished at how active the BioWare Community is,) said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Joint-CEO of BioWare Corp. (We have an amazingly dedicated fan base, and with their input and support, we can ensure that our games meet their expectations of quality. Over the past decade we've sold approximately 10,000,000 games as a company. The phenomenal success of our games can be attributed not only to the hard work and perseverance of the team that developed the games, but also to our loyal fans; the great relationship we have with our fans has been critical to our games' success.)

(By partnering with such excellent companies as Alienware, Atari, LucasArts, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, we are giving back to the fans that have supported us so whole-heartedly throughout the years,) added Dr. Greg Zeschuk, Joint-CEO of BioWare Corp. (As we move toward the release of Jade Empire on the Xbox in Q1 2005, and as we begin to release more information about Dragon Age, our upcoming high-fantasy PC RPG, the BioWare Community will be instrumental to BioWare's continued success.)
