Aside from your clothing, you also have to decide what abilities you will specialize in. There are three ability trees which include hacker ability, soldier ability, and spy ability. A hacker can use the code found throughout the city, and use it to create useful clothing, items, or abilities. Also during a fight, a hacker can assist someone else by coding in healing programs to their friend, or a virus to the opposing person. A soldier has access to different types of martial arts, and knowledge of firearms. A spy can use stealth to sneak though areas without being seen, or be able to disguise to avoid bringing attention to themselves. They also have an ability called "Data Tap Node" which allows them to tap into the Matrix and steal information; information being the real source of currency. As the game progresses, your abilities will branch out; giving you access to other more complicated techniques. You can also mix and match other skills like being a martial artist who has some hacking skills. There is also the ability to swap abilities. For example you want to gain a gun skill, but you don't have enough space in your head to get it just yet; what you can do is get rid of one of your aikido skills and suddenly viola! You forget Kung Fu, but you know Smith and Wesson.
