Underworld Ascendant Gameplay Footage and Interview

The folks at IGN had the opportunity to talk with two of the creative minds involved in the development of OtherSide Entertainment's Underworld Ascendant at PAX East, creative consultant Warren Spector (who is also going to lead development on System Shock 3) and founder Paul Neurath.

During the interview, which is accompanied by some gameplay footage, Spector and Neurath explain why they have always wanted to do another Underworld game, why the idea of faction-based gameplay excites them, and why being innovative and being true to the spirit of the originals aren't contradictory aspirations.

I'll leave the video embedded below:

I don't want to be premature, especially considered the game is in its pre-alpha phase of development, but so far I'm not a big fan of the new "authored" art style. I believe the intention was to make the environments and creatures feel like they're out of old fantasy artwork or miniatures, but so far the developers seem to have missed the mark, in my humble estimation.
