World of Warcraft: Legion Expansion Announced

During a (still ongoing) event at GamesCom that is being streamed on Twitch and on YouTube, the folks at Blizzard have announced a new expansion for World of Warcraft. It's titled World of Warcraft: Legion and will introduce a new continent, the Broken Isles, ten more levels (raising the level cap to 110), new dungeons and raids, a new honor system, artifact weapons, class order halls, and a new hero class, the Demon Hunter.

You can get an overview of the expansion's features, and a look at the screenshots and the announcement trailer on the expansion's official website page.

We have embedded the cinematic teaser and the feature overview for the expansion below:

We'll update the post with more details and assets as soon as they're available.

Update: the livestream has ended and an archive can be found at this link. During the presentation Blizzard discussed the new content included in the expansion from a story and mechanics perspective. Notable additions include artifact weapons that can be customized with their own unique talent trees, the new Demon Hunter class, new dungeons and raids (Blizzard felt that they didn't treat the dungeon experience seriously enough in the past), and a revamped PvP Honor system that the designers describe as a "PvP talent system".

As a character earns Honor, they progress through Honor ranks (from 1 to 50) and earn perks and PvP talents. The PvP talents are designed completely for PvP and will only work in places like battlegrounds and arenas. Prestige ranks similar to Call of Duty will also be added, letting players reset their ranks and go through the Honor progression again to gain cosmetic bonuses.

The revamped Honor system was the last thing shown during the presentation. If you're a World of Warcraft fan and for whatever reason you haven't watched it already, I heartily recommend watching it for a more thorough overview of the content included that wouldn't quite fit our newspost format.
