Diablo III Passes 12 Million Sales Worldwide

Since the last time we checked, it seems like Diablo III's global sales have grown a couple of millions higher, as this Activision-Blizzard document states the game passed 12 million sales as of December 2012, which apparently placed it as best-selling retail PC game of the year.

It would be really interesting to know the retention rates of the players, and to see how the patch content Blizzard has kept diligently pushing out has affected them. For that matter, it would be interesting to have news of an expansion, although I suppose by now we're used to the company's slow release schedule.
