Diablo III Sales Surpass 10 Million

Despite some critique over the last few months, and Blizzard's own admitted problems with the endgame, Diablo III has now officially become the massive success for Activision and Blizzard that everyone more or less expected it to be. Activision announced in their quarterly earnings statement that Diablo III has reached the frantically-clicking paws of over 10 million gamers, including first-day sales of 3.5 million copies.  For a PC-exclusive game in a supposedly dead genre, that's not too shabby.

No word was given on retention of users, which other reports suggest has gradually declined over the last few months, but hopefully this means that Blizzard will have an incentive to put out extra content or an expansion pack that much faster.
