Lord Lao's Furnace is an amazing walled-in factory of sorts. The machines here are capable of producing beneficial techniques and essence gems for you, but only if you have the correct configurations for them. The fuels needed to operate the machines are distributed around the Jade Empire, so you'll want to make sure you have the appropriate recipe and ingredients before doing any tinkering.
1 - Arrival
After completing Kang's first Flyer Mission and activating the Confoundable Minutia, you'll arrive in another one of the heavens that make up the Jade Empire universe. You should probably read through the rest of this walkthrough and make sure you understand how the furnace works before pulling any levers or pushing any buttons.
2 - Reset Console
If you ever fire up a machine by mistake or just want to start a creation process over, you can just pull the reset console lever.
3 - Bookstand
The text on this bookstand is entitled The Celestial Order, Volume 3.
4 - Fuel Hopper
Once you've decided to use Lord Lao's Furnace to create something, this is where you'll start. The hopper already contains a supply of cinnabar ore, but you'll need to add some fuel as well.
Depending on the configuration you're referring to, this could be a Cow Bezoar, A Bar of Nickeled Iron, A Vial of Sulfurous Water, or the Eyes of the Void. Keep in mind that the fuel you place inside will be used up whether you successfully complete a configuration or not. Considering that there are a finite number of each type of fuel, you should only place one inside the hopper once you know what you're doing.
5 - Tiger Button
Pressing the Tiger Button will be the final step in half of the configurations you find.
6 - Dragon Button
Pressing the Dragon Button will be the final step in the other half of the configurations you find.
7 - Ceramic Urn
Search inside this ceramic urn to find the Configuration of the Ox.
8 - Ceramic Urn
A Cow Bezoar can be looted from this urn.
9 - Whirling Cogs
This lever will activate the Whirling Cogs, one of the contraptions needed to perform various configurations.
10 - Cranking Cauldron
This lever will activate the Cranking Cauldron, one of the contraptions needed to perform various configurations.
11 - Conductor
This lever will activate the Conductor, one of the contraptions needed to perform various configurations.
12 - Clapper Chimney
This lever will activate the Clapper Chimney, one of the contraptions needed to perform various configurations.
13 - Water Wheel
This lever will activate the Water Wheel, one of the contraptions needed to perform various configurations.
Configurations
You don't actually need the proper configuration to use Lord Lao's Furnace. You just need to know which fuel and machines are required to produce the outcome you're looking for. If you have a few different fuels packed away and are itching to use the furnace, you can just reference the information below. Keep in mind that using the Eyes of the Void fuel will permanently destroy Lord Lao's Furnace. Therefore, it is only possible to obtain one of the two possible rewards for using the fuel.
