Background

You'll receive a notice about this quest at the conclusion of the quest Get Junior, but to actually trigger it, you'll need to travel to the racetrack by the Vegelbud residence and talk to the Race Master there (#1).


Walkthrough

For this quest you'll have to win a series of horseraces. The Race Master will lead you through the first three races. You'll be able to race your opponents as many times as needed to win, but each attempt will cost you 100 crowns. The opponents will get tougher as you go along, and you'll race on a different track for each one, so the quest can be challenging. Your opponents are listed below:

• Seamus Holt. When you beat him, you'll win a Superior Racing Saddle, 160 crowns, and 10 xp.
  
  
• Viscount Rommer. When you beat him, you'll win Rugged Saddlebags, 160 crowns, and 10 xp.
  
  
• Luc Vegelbud. When you beat him, you'll win a Superior Cavalry Saddle, 280 crowns, and 100 xp.

When you leave the grandstand after winning the third race, one of Cleaver's men will come up to you and deliver a Message from Carlo Varese (aka Cleaver) inviting you to see him. When you meet with Cleaver in his hideout (#2), he'll invite you to take part in the Palio, a race through the countryside south of Novigrad. If you agree, then you'll automatically start the race.

Unlike the other races in this quest, you'll only get one shot at the Palio, so it's a good idea to save first. If you win the race, then you'll receive Racing Horse Blinders and 740 crowns. If you lose the race, then you won't receive anything.
