Background

You'll trigger this quest when you examine a corpse in Novigrad (#1). You'll receive a clue about the corpse when you're walking nearby and you notice that "something stinks." If necessary, you can turn on your witcher senses and then follow the odor to the corpse.


Walkthrough

When you examine the dead man, you'll see that he was killed by a sword, and you'll pick up the key that he was holding. If you turn on your witcher senses, then you'll also spot the man's footprints, and they'll lead you to a house where you'll meet some of Cleaver's thugs. They'll talk too much about how the key is needed for a drop box, and this will give you two ways to proceed:

• You can give the key to the men. They'll reward you with 20 crowns.
  
  
• You can keep the key. The three level 20 thugs will attack you, and one of them will drop the diagram for Mahakaman Steel Sword when he dies. Then when you go upstairs, you'll discover a locked chest that the key will unlock. Inside the chest you'll find 200 Florens and some other loot.
