Main Quest: Imperial Audience

Walkthrough

You'll begin this quest inside the Royal Palace in Vizima. You'll be in a guest room (#1), and the emperor's aides will be attempting to get you cleaned up and presentable. However, while you're receiving a shave, Morvran Voorhis, one of the emperor's generals, will come in and question you. If you did not import a save, then this conversation will allow you to choose what happened to you at key moments during The Witcher 2.

Afterwards, you'll have to choose some new clothes to wear while your armor is being laundered (#2). You'll have three choices for this, and it won't make any difference which outfit you select. Then you'll get to practice bowing. The correct answer is: "Left leg forward, right hand on chest." Finally, the chamberlain will lead to you the emperor. You might as well follow him as the other rooms in the palace won't be available to you yet.

In the emperor's study (#3), you'll be asked to bow. You can do this or not, and it won't make any difference. Then the emperor will ask / command you to look for his daughter Ciri (who you might remember from the tutorial). He won't tell you why he needs her back, but he'll offer to pay you for your services.

Next up, the chamberlain will lead you to Yennefer's room (#4). Yennefer will tell you that two regions seem the most promising for tracking down Ciri: Velen, where you should contact an imperial agent named Hendrik, and Novigrad, where your old flame Triss Merigold is staying. Yennefer will also suggest that you talk to Ambassador var Attre (#5) for a primer on what has transpired since the end of The Witcher 2. Then Yennefer will teleport away to The Skellige Isles, where she'll begin her own inquiries.

To complete the quest, you'll just need to exit the guest chambers (#4, #5). The chamberlain will meet you at the doorway, and he'll hand over your equipment, allowing you to leave. However, before departing (#7), you might want to play some gwent (#6). Just note that the nobleman opponent will have a bunch of hero and special cards, making him tough to beat.
