Main Quest: Disturbance

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Background

You'll trigger this quest when you arrive at Kaer Morhen during the quest Ugly Baby.

Walkthrough

For this quest, you'll need to help Yennefer get her megascope in working order. You'll find Yennefer (and her megascope) at the top of the southeastern tower in Kaer Morhen (#1). When you talk to her there, she'll tell you that some nearby power source is playing havoc with her megascope crystals, and she'll ask you to find it and neutralize it. To help you out, she'll give you a Potestaquisitor, and she'll tell you that it will "squeal" louder the closer you get to the power source. You'll automatically equip the Potestaquisitor.

Note: If you make Yennefer mad (by talking about Triss), then she'll teleport you to the lake north of Kaer Morhen, and you'll have to walk back to continue your conversation. So don't make her mad.

You'll need to use the Potestaquisitor in the main hall of the keep. It'll light up more and make more noise the closer you get to the power source. Geralt will also comment when you're close. You'll find the power source in some crates next to Vesemir and Uma (#2). When you examine the crates, Vesemir will tell you that they contain dimeritium bombs, and he'll offer to move them out of the way if you watch Uma for him. You won't need to do anything for this part of the quest, other than wait for Vesemir to finish the job.

When you return to Yennefer, her megascope will be in working order, and she'll call up Ida Emean. When Ida hears the words of Ciri's curse, she'll recognize it as being very old and very dangerous, and she'll recommend that you use Agnes de Glanville's incantation and Eldar's Triangle -- inverted -- to combat it. She'll also hint that you're going to have an important role to play later on. This conversation will complete the quest and earn you 600 xp.
