Side Quest: Greedy God

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Background

After receiving The Eye of Nehaleni from Keira Metz during the quest Wandering in the Dark, you'll meet two peasants named Dagmar and Preben at Wastrel Manor in Velen West (#1). Talking to them will trigger the quest.

Walkthrough

Dagmar and Preben will tell you that they've been praying to the Allgod here for years, and that he's been keeping their village safe. The only problem is, with the war going on, they've had trouble making the appropriate offerings, and the god is unhappy with them, demanding bacon and beer instead of the scraps they've been bringing.

To investigate the matter, you'll need to talk to the Allgod using the nearby altar. He'll demand "worthy offerings" and threaten drought, hail, earthquakes and even avalanches if you fail him. You'll note that the voice seems to be coming from underground.

To find the Allgod, you'll need to turn on your witcher senses. You'll spot some wine that the Allgod drank, and when you follow its scent, you'll discover some illusionary rocks. With The Eye of Nehaleni in your inventory, you'll be able to dispel the illusion, which will reveal some stairs leading down into a crypt.

When you enter the crypt, you'll find out that the Allgod is really a fat sylvan and not a god at all. This will earn you 25 xp. The Allgod will automatically start a conversation with you when he spots you, and you'll have three ways to respond:
  • You can allow the Allgod to continue demanding what he wants. Dagmar and Preben will understand, and they'll decide to give better offerings. You'll earn 50 xp.

  • You can convince the Allgod to accept lesser offerings until the end of the war. Dagmar and Preben will be happy that their god is so merciful. You'll earn 100 crowns and 100 xp.

  • You can kill the Allgod. You'll find some common monster parts on his body. Dagmar and Preben won't be happy about your actions though, and they'll immediately leave to organize a prayer group. You'll earn 50 xp.
Note: If you leave the Allgod alive, then you'll be able to hint to Dagmar and Preben that they should check out the crypt below. We've heard from other sources that this is supposed to get them killed, but when we returned to the site a few days later, we found the stairs to the crypt bricked up for real. So perhaps it's random if the peasants get their revenge or not.
