You'll trigger this quest by looting a Letter from a deserter in a bandit camp in Velen East (#1).


Walkthrough

The Letter will mention that the deserters found a treasure chest and hid it somewhere nearby. You'll find the chest on a hill to the south (#2). It'll have random contents. Looting the chest will complete the quest.
