Mass Effect 2 Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC Reviews

Judging by the latest round of reviews for Lair of the Shadow Broker, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of people that aren't happy with their 800-point purchase.

Gamer Limit gives it a 9.0/10:
There's a solid three hours of playtime here, but not much more to offer past that. There is some post-adventure content that forms a new, permanent area to explore, but it's impossible to give details without ruining the story. Suffice it to say that this permanent world addition has some amusing content written into it, but whether or not it stands as a true value-add to the rest of the game depends on whether BioWare supports the new area with fresh content between now and the release of Mass Effect 3.

GameRevolution gives it an "A-":
The Lair of the Shadow Broker is a blast, especially for fans who want to catch up with Liara and dissect the bits of story that were omitted in the main game. The set pieces are gorgeously done and the pacing is perfect, even if it breezes by rather quickly. This DLC feels much more in tune with the main story than any other content pack so far and makes me think of what other plot threads our Canadian friends over at Bioware might still have in store for future downloadable content. If Shadow Broker is any indication of the quality content you can get for ten space bucks (800 MSP), it might be worth keeping your copy of Mass Effect 2 close by just in case.

Destructoid gives it a 9.5/10:
If this isn't going to be part of the DLC to be included in the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, it will still be worth getting it. At 800 points I didn't feel cheated out of my money in any way, but it was still stretching how far I want to go with pricing for DLC missions or episodes. And if you loved Mass Effect 2 , this is absolutely required if you didn't already get it. An example of how to do great, if not perfect, DLC in a story-driven game.

Video Game Talk gives it a 4/5:
You are getting about two to three more hours out of Mass Effect 2 with the addition of this downloadable add-on pack priced at $10. That really doesn't match up with the value of Mass Effect 2 in terms of cost per hour of play, but it does bring several loose ends together regarding some of the plot holes and character back study in Mass Effect 2. While Shadow Broker has a tremendous production value, it really does play more like a movie at some points rather than an action title. In any case, pick up the Shadow Broker if you absolutely enthralled with the Mass Effect 2 story and want to find out what happened to Liara, particularly how it affects Mass Effect 3. Just beware of the short length and relatively high cost per hour of play.

Armchair Diplomat gives it a 3.5/5:
As DLC goes, Lair of the Shadow Broker is bloody good. Long term fans of the series in particular will appreciate the chance to resume plots from the first game and also start moving towards the third installment. Some fun boss fights and a few spectacular visual moments round the whole package out nicely.

GamingTruth gives it a perfect 5/5:
However, the presentation, action, excitement and everything great about ME2 are clearly evident in Shadow Broker. It's this kind of quality and care with the property that just may make Mass Effect my favorite current console generation role-playing series.

And G4 doesn't provide a score:
So while Lair of the Shadow Broker is the most expensive Mass Effect 2 DLC yet, ringing in at 800 MS points, it's well worth it for those that want to meet this elusive figure, re-kindle a relationship with a former friend/lover or have access to some game changing elements for future replay.
