The Internet is home to some early impressions of BioWare's Witch Hunt DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, starting with a mini-review at RPGWatch:

So, was it worth it? Quite simply: no. I'm not someone who measures content in dollars-per-hour-played but rather in terms of the experience. Witch Hunt didn't provide story closure, the gameplay was dull - and the two or so hours not worth the $7.

A lot of new lore will focus on beginning new plot threads that will be revealed in Dragon Age 2. You have to look for it though, in books and in conversations with Ariane and others. A lot of it has to do with elves, but hey, welcome to fantasy.
