Dragon Age: Origins Reviews

Reviews of BioWare's Dragon Age: Origins continue to roll in, so I thought I'd round up the latest batch while things are a bit slow on the news front.

TheGamersHub gives it a perfect 5/5:
Overall, is Dragon Age worth your money? If you're expecting violent, hack and slash combat, stick with God of War. The combat here is violent, yes, as well as intense. However, you will be directing the combat rather than engaging if that's not your thing then you're probably better off elsewhere. For everyone else, this game is a masterpiece of narrative and theme that should not be missed. There is so much to see and do that it's mind boggling. Basically all of the shortcomings of the game are due to console limitations in terms of graphics and combat management. Therefore, if you have a capable PC, the general consensus is to be to get that version, since the textures are sharper and the combat much more manageable due to being able to zoom right out to get a good, strategic view. The shortcomings of the Xbox 360 version are not game-breaking however, and certainly don't spoil the experience it's just that this sort of game is in its element with a mouse and keyboard. For my final word then, this game is highly recommended: you'll struggle to find a more thoroughly fleshed out world or a better storyline in any game. The PC version is better, but there's nothing unplayable about the console versions.

RealTalkGaming leaves it scoreless:
I feel that Bioware's Dragon Age: Origins is a well balanced game that is a must for any RPG fan. With an intriguing tale, sexy graphics, and smooth game-play, this one is sure to please.I see no reason to not give this one a solid 10/10! Be sure to pick your class wisely! What kind of character do you want to make? The way you experience this game can vary greatly with whatever class and race you pick in the beginning. Do you want to freeze people with magic, run every punk ass through with a sword, or sneak about and pick pocket the coin purses the of the less aware? However you decide to play this game, you'll be sure to have a unique experience that would be difficult to replicate. Oh and several DLC packs add even more depth to this game. Go on and give this game a shot. I mentioned the whore house, right?

Video Game Talk gives it a 4.5/5:
From top to bottom Dragon Age: Origins is a quality adventure that's worth checking out. The story and scope of the game are epic, the rich customization is appreciated, and the gameplay is a mix of familiar and new. There are a couple hiccups here and there such as the camera and wheel menu, but these are mere minor annoyances and hardly diminish the overall quality. If you love Bioware RPGs then chances are good you already have this one in your collection, however, if you don't consider it highly recommended.

Game Podunk gives it a 7.5/10:
Overall, its a good RPG with a strong story. The absence of exploration takes away from the title and the poor graphics hurt its presentation, but the story makes up for it in most spots. The gameplay is solid albeit somewhat basic. For fans of the medieval RPG genre, this deserves a rental, but may not meet the expectations built up by other releases this generation.

And TrueAchievements gives it a perfect 5/5:
The just is here though, DA is an incredible game backed by the great RPG pedigree at Bioware. For once, I would prefer not to give this a score out of 5. This game is very subjective, many people will love it, some people will hate it. I will say that if you've been itching for a classic RPG run to the store and get your hands on this title, it's a must have.
