Mass Effect Galaxy Price Drop, More Mediocre Reviews

It's only been a few days since the release of Mass Effect Galaxy, but word is that BioWare's iPhone offering has already seen a price reduction from $4.99 to $2.99. If that price has you considering a purchase, check out these latest reviews first...

UGO goes with a "C-":
f you're willing to endure a few crappy combat sequences, then the story, characters, and cool art make Mass Effect Galaxy a decent 90 minutes for series junkies. Everyone else will be left annoyed by the clunky controls and dumbfounded by the narrative. It's a standalone story, sure, but Galaxy is set deep within an established universe, and it doesn't waste a second accommodating anyone who isn't intimately familiar with the lore.

Slide To Play gives it a 1/4:
Mass Effect Galaxy is a thin layer of franchise floating on top of a big bucket of yuck. As it stands right now, the best things about this game are its attractive cartoon cutscenes, the kick-ass techno soundtrack, and the passable story. Nothing else is remotely worth buying.

And 148Apps gives it a 3.5/5:
For continuing players of the franchise, Mass Effect Galaxy is a great way to get your fill of story from the Mass Effect universe. Galaxy will help bridge the gap between M.E. 1 and M.E. 2 and give a back story to some of the leading characters of the upcoming game. BioWare has said that like the books, Mass Effect Galaxy wont be absolutely necessary to follow along with Mass Effect 2. For new players to the franchise, Mass Effect Galaxy will be a great preview of the world of Mass Effect, albeit somewhat different than the original game in genre and style it will hopefully attract new players into the franchise. For existing and new users alike, Galaxy, even with its few blemishes, is a great addition to the game library and will provide a few hours of entertainment for the price.
