8. It's being compared to Fallout 3
Bethesda's Fallout 3 is a huge game. It's a heavy RPG with shooter elements and a great story. Being like that is a good thing.
Like Fallout 3, Borderlands has a very apparent sense of humor. It also has plenty of missions to be undertaken in an open world, and is suitably gory, with special skills that tend to make heads explode in a shower of artistic claret.

7. It's an RPG...
The RPG element actually means RPG. Your character will better their skills and abilities during play.
Item drops are not the only action-RPG element in Borderlands. Your characters can also gain new skills and abilities to use. We got a demo of this element when one of the player characters "Hulked out" and started getting bigger and stronger. Naturally players can use this to tear apart enemies with their bare hands.
